Gwinnett County police announce major gang sweep
Dangerous and violent gang members are off the street in Gwinnett County. Police began an investigation into the gang "Gangster Disciples" nearly a year ago. Police said they mainly operate out of Norcross. They're known for wearing black bandanas, having six-point star tattoos and using specific hand signals.
"Any time we take these people off the streets, it makes Gwinnett County a safer place," Gwinnett County Police Chief Charles Walters said.
Walters made the announcement of a major gang sweep during a press conference on Monday. They have arrested nearly 50 gang members during the course of their investigation.

Last Wednesday, members of the gang unit and ATF agents began a coordinated bust of the "Gangster Disciples" and other gangs working under them.
"There were not one but two separate criminal organizations, gangsters, plain and simple who were involved in a variety of crimes, doing what gang members do best. Slinging' dope, carrying guns, robbing, burglaries, assaults," ATF Special Agent Scott Sweetow said.
Police said the "Gangster Disciples" worked out of the Bradford apartments in Norcross, intimidating the people who lived there.
