The Atlanta Falcons have fired an assistant coach following an investigation into sexual assault allegations.

“The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis from his role,” the team said in a statement Friday.

Lewis was hired by Atlanta on Feb. 10, just 17 days before his dismissal. He previously coached at Toledo and Michigan.

Ann Arbor police confirmed to ESPN that they are investigating the allegations but have not announced whether any charges have been filed.

The Falcons had earlier acknowledged they were “aware of allegations” involving Lewis before ultimately deciding to terminate his employment.
