Wrestling coach Robert "Leslie" Morrow charged with sexual assault
Robert "Leslie" Morrow, 28, has been charged with one count of sexual assault involving a 16-year-old girl.

A Cherokee County wrestling coach and former state champion has been charged with sexual assault and a teacher that failed to report it was also arrested, police said Thursday.

Robert "Leslie" Morrow, 28, of Canton, is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl in his vehicle in December, according to Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman for Woodstock police. Morrow, a paraprofessional at River Ridge High School, was arrested Thursday after tuing himself in to police.

The victim, who reported being assault July 26, said the incident happened in a business park within the River Park subdivision, located on Highway 5 near Sixes Road in Woodstock. The teen was not one of Morrow's students and no longer attends school in Cherokee County, Barbara Jacoby, school district spokeswoman, said in a statement.

After leaing that Morrow was under criminal investigation, he was placed on administrative leave, Jacoby said.

Morrow confessed to the assault when interviewed by detectives, Duncan said.

The victim reported the incident to another school employee, Kristin May, in January, but May did not contact police, according to Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

May, 32, of Canton, was arrested Thursday afteoon at the school district's print shop in Holly Spring and charged with failure to report, Baker said. May previously was an English teacher, but has been re-assigned to a job without student contact, the district said.

Morrow is the head wrestling coach at River Ridge High School, located on Aold Mill Road. He was a Georgia state champion three times while wrestling at Sequoyah High School, becoming the first Cherokee County wrestler to win three titles in 2001.

Both Morrow and May were booked into the Cherokee County jail. Morrow’s bond has been set at $11,200; May’s $680.

 

Kristin May, 32, of Canton, was arrested for allegedly failing to report a crime after a high school student confided in her.
