Two High Schoolers Accused Of On-Campus Sex Assault
Brandon Thompson

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Two high school students are accused of attacking and sexually assaulting a classmate on campus.

GA Daily News reporter GA Daily News leaed that one of them had been accused of sexual battery before.

Jones was in court when 17-year-old Brandon Thompson went before a judge.

"It's alleged that you along with another minor sexually assaulted a 15-year-old victim," Clayton County Magistrate Judge Bobby Simmons told Thompson.

The allegations shocked parents picking up their children after school.

"The girl was 15? Oh my goodness," Denise Gillyard said.

"It makes us fearful about a lot of things that's going on," parent Sherron Johnson said.

A criminal warrant indicates that Thompson and a 15-year-old boy, both Jonesboro High School students, sexually attacked a 15-year-old classmate on campus on Thursday. According to the warrant, the girl repeatedly told her attackers to stop and when she tried to get away, they held her captive.

"You're charged with false imprisonment. That is a felony," Judge Simmons informed Thompson. He also faces felony aggravated sexual battery and child molestation.

The 15-year-old is being tried in juvenile court and his identity is being withheld because of his age. The warrant indicates that the attack was captured on video, but it's not clear if the school's video surveillance recorded it or a student with a videophone.

According to the warrant, Thompson was arrested for sexual battery last year and accused of attacking a minor. That also shocked parents.

"And the child is still attending the school? Wow. Something needs to be done about that," Gillyard said.

Clayton County Public Schools sent a statement that reads: "School officials cooperated fully with Clayton County Police in their investigation into the incident. School administrators, following established procedure, have dealt with each student in an appropriate manner. To comment further would be inappropriate at this time."

Also, according to the warrant, Thompson admitted his role in the attack and wrote an apology letter.
