Tara Leigh Bagley: Vice principal sexually abused two female students aged 16 and 17
A vice principal has been accused of sexually abusing two female students aged 16 and 17.
Tara Leigh Bagley, 41, from Idaho, is the principal for the 10th and 12th grades at Burley High School.
She was arrested on Friday by the Hurricane City Police near St George, Utah, on seven counts of sexually abusing a minor.
The 41-year-old is being held in the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center on $250,000 bond.
Police say the events for which Bagley faces charges occurred from July 2011 to December 2012 in Cassia County, but not on school property.
The case has been sealed and there are few details about what happened.
Bagley waived her right to extradition proceedings in a Utah court and will be retued to Cassia County via a prisoner shuttle service.
Cassia County School District Superintendent Gaylen Smyer said Bagley was hired by the district in 2004.
Smyer said he could not comment on whether Bagley had been placed on administrative leave.
'I’m bound by the law and I can’t divulge anything like that,' he told Times News. 'The law is very specific about personnel matters and I’m bound by that code.'
