NBC’s Savannah Guthrie Makes Emotional Public Plea After Mother’s Disappearance

TUCSON, Ariz. — Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s Today, made an emotional appeal for help Monday as authorities continued searching for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who went missing from her home on Saturday night.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said evidence at the Catalina Foothills residence indicates foul play, and investigators are treating the property as a crime scene. He told reporters that Nancy Guthrie, who has limited mobility and requires daily medication, did not leave the home of her own accord.

“Nobody believes she walked out of there,” Nanos said. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and license plate reader data and have appealed to the public for information. Anyone with tips is asked to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Savannah Guthrie took to Instagram to ask for prayers and support for her mother’s safe return, describing her as a “woman of deep conviction” and thanking followers for their messages of encouragement. She has been absent from Today earlier this week as the family remains focused on the search.

Friends and colleagues have also publicly expressed concern, emphasizing the urgency of locating Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing Sunday after she failed to attend her regular church service.
