Carroll County Police Charge Two With Felony Murder in Deadly Hit-and-Run
VILLA RICA, Ga. — Two people have been charged with felony murder in connection with a deadly hit-and-run that killed a woman earlier this month, authorities said.
Carroll County deputies responded Jan. 12 to a report of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on Villa Forest Lane. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Brittany Dutton of Carrollton, was taken to Tanner Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators allege the crash occurred as the driver and passenger fled the scene of an attempted robbery. The pair had planned to steal prescription medication and an iPad from another person before Dutton was struck, authorities said.
The driver, identified as Mark Enriquez, and the passenger, 30-year-old Kourtney Robinson of Franklin, were taken into custody. Both now face felony murder, criminal attempt to commit a felony and felony tampering with evidence charges, in addition to initial charges that included homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault and reckless driving.
The vehicle involved in the crash was later found hidden at a residence off Center Point Road, according to law enforcement.
