Suspected Dunwoody pill mill doctor Nisar Piracha due in court today
Federal agents arrested a doctor and three other people in a raid of a suspected pain clinic in Dunwoody on Wednesday.
Drug Enforcement Agency and DeKalb County authorities converged on the office of Dr. Nisar Piracha at 11 Dunwoody Park.
Authorities also arrested Piracha's assistant, Jennifer Washington, and two patients. Agents also seized files and computers from the office.
The DEA said that they have developed information that the doctor was dispensing large quantities of pain killers over the last few months.
Neighbors in the medical complex said they suspected something was amiss because they noticed a lot of cars with out of state license plates in the parking lot early in the moing.
The DeKalb County District Attoey's Office is handling the prosecution of this case, which was administered through Dunwoody police and the DEA.
Authorities said the patients were not arrested on charges connected to the pill mill. One was arrested for driving without a license; the other was arrested on a possession of drug paraphealia charge.
Those arrested were being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center on Wednesday.
