FORT BENNING, Ga. (AP) - Col. Leopoldo A. Quintas has been promoted to brigadier general at Fort Benning in west Georgia.

The promotion comes five months after Quintas assumed duties as the 48th chief of U.S. Army Armor School in September.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that more than 350 people gathered in front of McGinnis-Wickam Hall during a Friday ceremony marking the promotion.

After his star was pinned on his shoulders during the ceremony, Quintas said the promotion is not about him or individual achievement "because the Army is a team sport."
