Police said a local teacher was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend Saturday moing at her townhouse on Deerboe Court in southwest Atlanta.

According to police report, Dwayne Brooks, of New Orleans, broke through the glass of 33-year-old Lashante Holloway's front door, allowed her two children to leave, shot Holloway and then shot and killed himself.

Witnesses told the media they saw a 15-year-old girl running with the 3-year-old in her arms, but did not know they were running from a killing scene.

”My kids came and woke me up and they informed me that they did see a little girl running with a baby, a neighbor said.

Neighbors told reporters that Holloway is a special education science teacher at North Clayton High School. Her co-workers said they just celebrated her birthday on Friday. They said they had seen the car investigators were combing Saturday after the shooting in the neighborhood several times before.

They said they did not realize it belonged to the woman’s ex-boyfriend, until police told them it was his car and that he had been stalking her.

”I’ve seen that Charger before but I’ve never seen him inside because the windows are tinted but I have seen that vehicle here a few times, a neighbor said.
