Police: Milton mother Jacqueline Lucania drove drunk with 2 kids in car, caused wreck

Milton county deputies arrested a woman accused of causing a violent wreck while driving drunk with two kids in the back seat.

Officers told reporters that Jacqueline Lucania, 46, from Milton was arrested on Tuesday afteoon after the wreck on Hopewell and Redd roads.

”Just as I got to the intersection, this blue vehicle, all I saw was a blue vehicle right there in the windshield, said George Elkins, whose car police say Lucania struck. ”I hit the brakes as quick as I could.

Elkins said the impact caused him to black out, and when he awoke, he was taken to the hospital with a broken steum.

”Only thing that saved me from getting killed was having my seat belt on, he said.

On a dash cam video provided to Petchenik, Lucania can be heard telling police she’s embarrassed.

”You can’t do this in front of my friends, she can be heard telling officers. ”My children will see.

Police told Petchenik that Lucania initially denied drinking, then later admitted to having several glasses of wine.

”Her breath sample was two times over the legal limit, said Milton Police Lt. Travis Parker.  ”You give me three or four glasses of wine and I cannot drive.

Petchenik encountered Lucania at the Milton Police Department, but she declined to comment on the charges, which include DUI and two counts of child endangerment.

Elkins said he hopes Lucania leas from the situation.

”People who do that just aren’t considerate of other people and themselves, he said.  ” They've got a problem.
