Police Arrest Greylin D. Cheek, Elizabeth T. Smith in White County after traffic stop leads to drug seizure, home search
WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — Two Cleveland residents were arrested this week after a traffic stop in north Georgia led to the discovery of illegal and prescription drugs, authorities said.
Deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Office said they were patrolling along Highway 75 South near Donald Alexander when they stopped a vehicle for a routine traffic violation. During the stop, deputies reported finding about 1.5 ounces of marijuana, eight grams of psilocybin mushrooms and several oxycodone pills.
Investigators later obtained a search warrant for a Cleveland home connected to the vehicle. During the search, deputies said they found an additional seven ounces of marijuana, 77 oxycodone pills, 35 tramadol pills and 27 MDMA tablets.
Authorities arrested Greylin D. Cheek, 38, of Cleveland, and charged him with possession of marijuana, oxycodone, tramadol, psilocybin mushrooms and MDMA with intent to distribute, as well as possession of drug-related objects.
Elizabeth T. Smith, 37, of Cleveland, was charged with possession of marijuana, oxycodone, tramadol and MDMA with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.
The sheriff’s office said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb drug activity in the county.
“We remain committed to proactive enforcement and keeping dangerous drugs out of White County,” the agency said in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing.
