The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a rolling gun battle along roads in an east Georgia county that sent three people to the hospital.

GBI Special Agent in Charge Mike Ayers discussed one of the multiple crime scenes Tuesday, showing reporters where a huge, fully-loaded logging truck rammed into several patrol cars while trying to get away.

Investigators say it started with a domestic dispute call Monday night.

Haley Hill, 23

When deputies arrived Ryan Aold, 23, grabbed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Haley Hill, 23, and took off in a pickup truck, leading police on a high-speed gun battle down a rural highway.

Deputies say Aold then shot Hill and pushed her out of the truck along the side of the highway.

Oglethorpe County Sheriff Mike Smith said Aold then abandoned his pickup and carjacked logging truck driver Don Davis, 58. Investigates say Aold forced Davis to ram through a road block, damaging patrol cars.

Davis' son said his father fought Aold the whole way until Aold shot him.

"He told my dad to run over the cop cars," said Brandon Davis. "My dad refused and told him no and tried lifting his foot off the pedal. But the gunman put his foot on top of my dad's trying to keep the truck going to hit the cop cars. My dad was able to get his foot out from under the other guy's and tried to hold the gas pedal up, but that's when he got shot one of the times in the leg."

Brandon Davis said his father was shot a total of five times and underwent surgery Tuesday afteoon. Deputies said they opened fire on the logging truck and wounded Aold. The GBI wants to find out if some of the rounds hit Don Davis, too.

"At this particular point in time, I cannot determine whether the hostage was shot by law enforcement or whether or not he was shot by the suspect, or a combination thereof," said Ayers.

Hill is in critical condition, but the GBI reports she lost her unbo child. Don Davis and Aold are in stable condition at local hospitals.
