Man whose burger was allegedly spat on settles Burger King lawsuit
All Glenn Goodwin wanted was a burger after a long day hauling freight. What he didn't expect was a lawsuit. Goodwin, who is black, settled his federal civil rights lawsuit with a company that owns a Pennsylvania Burger King franchise, where white employees allegedly spit in his Whopper Jr. Goodwin, a Cleveland resident, said that on Nov. 11, 2008, he stopped at the store in Fairview, Pa., and a male employee appeared to tamper with his burger. Goodwin unwrapped the burger and "found saliva in his sandwich that seemed 'extra wet' and smelled 'disgusting.'" A judge earlier ruled that there was enough evidence to go to trial because a reasonable jury could conclude the store's actions were discriminatory, prompting the settlement. [Source]
