Man Killed In Peachtree City Fire, Two Others Escape

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Firefighters battled intense flames in Fayette County but could not rescue a man from a house fire early Tuesday.

The fire started just after midnight at a home on Scatterfoot Drive in Peachtree City.

Firefighters told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh the fire was so intense they immediately went on the defensive.

”It was a particularly heavy fire when they arrived. The first unit arrived one minute after the call was dispatched. It’s just unfortunate, said Peachtree City Fire Battalion Cmdr. Ron Mundy.

Authorities told two other people were inside the home at the time of the fire but escaped safely. They were interviewed by firefighters and Peachtree City police.

Police were maintaining a presence outside the home until the cause of the fire could be determined, Kavanaugh said.
