The Kennesaw State University student who has been at the center of an immigration controversy will begin a walk from Atlanta to Washington, D.C. starting Thursday moing.

Jessica Colotl, 21, will be joined by others in an effort to call attention to immigration reform. Colotl was arrested for traffic violations in March. After her arrest, it came to light that she was paying in-state tuition at Kennesaw State even though she is an illegal immigrant.

Federal authorities are allowing Colotl to finish her final year of school before she is deported.

At a news conference at Plaza Fiesta on Thursday afteoon, Colotl is expected to talk about the Dream Act, which is under consideration in Congress. Colotl and her supporters are headed to D.C. for a rally in favor of the act.
