Investigators look for suspect wanted in string of convenience store robberies
Police say a man who is robbing Gwinnett County convenience stores has a specific time and uniform of choice when committing his crimes.
Channel 2's Craig Lucie talked to a Snellville clerk, who said he knows the same guy has robbed some of his friends at other gas stations.
Several clerks told Lucie the man is parking behind the convenience store around 8 p.m. Two of them said they watched as he came around the coer with a ski mask on and coat with fur around the hood.
Surveillance video shows from three angles as a man quickly walks into the East Main Street Shell Station in Snellville, points a gun at the clerk and starts emptying the cash register.
Snellville police said he's in and out incredibly fast.
"Within a minute," Officer James McDonald with the Snellville police estimates.
And before he leaves - -- he has one more scare tactic.
"The suspect actually points the gun towards the clerks head," McDonald said.
Less than a mile away, Snellville police said the robber did the same thing at a Texaco gas station where Berhanu Dilnesaw was working one night.
"He just pointed the gun at me and said 'Give me all your money,' and I said 'OK, well come on in,'" Dilnesaw said.
Police said as he approached the counter the man walked under several signs stating surveillance cameras were rolling, but police said that doesn't scare him off since you can't see an inch of his skin.
"He came with a full cover mask so I could not identify who he was," Dilnesaw said.
McDonald said the man wears a thick, dark-colored coat with a fur hood, a black ski mask, black gloves and black pants.
Both victims and police said they know he has hit other stores
"The same guy robbed (the) Chevron on Oak road," Dilnesaw said.
The only lead police have now is tracking down a silver Sebring that surveillance video showed pulling away seconds after one of the robberies.
Police said they don't know if that is the suspect's car or a witness who was scared.
They are asking anyone with information to call the Snellville Police Department at 770-985-3555
