Gwinnett mom Teila Williams arrested after mysterious death of baby, injuries to twin
Teila Williams, 24, has been charged with cruelty and neglect, in the case of her daughter suffering from several broken bones.

Police say a 10-week-old baby is hospitalized after someone apparently broke several bones in her body.

The child’s twin brother died under mysterious circumstances over the weekend. Their mother, 24-year-old Teila Williams, has been charged with cruelty and neglect but says someone else may have hurt the child.

”We were notified of an infant death early Sunday moing, said Snellville police Capt. Carey Roberts.

While Snellville police say they still aren't sure what caused the death of that 10-week-old boy, the call did alert them to the life-threatening condition of his twin sister. Authorities say almost all her ribs were broken, including her arms and legs.

The baby girl was rushed to an emergency room, and then flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

A doctor said the girl likely suffered from nutritional neglect, and given the infant's clinical picture, it is consistent with medical neglect.

Three other adults also live in the Snellville home.

Roberts says he will be doing interviews with other family members and is waiting for medical reports on both twins before deciding what other charges might be filed.

”It is not a mystery for somebody, but to us right now it is, Roberts said.

Authorities say Williams’ four other children are now in state custody.
