A metro Atlanta man has been sentenced to life in prison in connection with five rapes and attempted rapes in 2011.

Gary Wendale Mincey was found guilty of 17 charges last month and was sentenced Tuesday moing to eight life sentences plus 135 years. Authorities say Mincey stalked five women between the ages of 22 and 53 within a six-week period. Officials say Mincey also robbed the victims of jewelry, cellphones and money.

Prosecutors say Mincey used a stun gun, a knife or a gun to intimidate his victims. Officials say Mincey appeared to have chosen his victims randomly and followed them from grocery stores and bars before attacking them.
