GBI investigators said Tuesday that an autopsy revealed that a woman involved in an incident on Delta Airlines property died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators identified the woman as 55-year-old Caren Archer of McDonough. The shooting happened Monday on Aviation Boulevard, near Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

Clayton County police said they believe the Archer was looking to settle a score with a Delta employee.

GBI agents said an officer opened fire after the woman drove past a security checkpoint.

Investigators said autopsy results were consistent with evidence found in Archer's vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
