A family of six was displaced from their home Saturday after a speeding car crashed through their roof.

According to fire officials with the City of Fairbu, the car was reportedly speeding down Fayetteville Road around 2:45 p.m. Saturday when it left the road, hit a driveway and flew up about 35 feet into the air. The car crashed through the roof of the house on the coer of Fayetteville Road and Pine Street, lodging itself part of the way into the back bedroom.

Neighbors told FOX 5 News that one of the residents had been sleeping in the back bedroom, but had gotten up and left just minutes before the incident. Emergency crews had to shore up the room before entering. The driver was able to crawl out of the car through one of the windows. A large boom crane was brought into removed the vehicle.

The Fairbu Police said they did arrest one person, but no one was available Saturday to speak with FOX 5 regarding the arrest.

The Red Cross was called out to assist the family and neighbors told FOX 5 News that the family is staying with relatives for now.
