Driver Hits APD Officer During Traffic Stop in NE Atlanta
An Atlanta police officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital on Thursday evening after he was hit by a vehicle. It happened during a traffic stop at College and Sisson avenues in northeast Atlanta.

ATLANTA, Ga. - An Atlanta police officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital on Thursday evening after he was hit by a vehicle. It happened during a traffic stop at College and Sisson avenues in northeast Atlanta.

APD confirms the officer was hit, and they say he sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was said to be alert and breathing when taken to the hospital.

According to authorities, the officer was attempting a traffic stop when the driver of the vehicle allegedly ran over the officer. FOX 5’s Morse Diggs reports there was a struggle between the officer and the suspect, and the suspect allegedly pushed the officer out of his vehicle and took off.

Police are searching for the driver, who was in a gold Honda.

The officer’s name has not been released.
