Dougherty Gang - Ryan, Dylan and Lee Grace - spotted in Colorado Springs: police
The devilish Dougherty Gang has been spotted in Colorado, hundreds of miles from where their crime spree sparked a nationwide manhunt, the FBI said Wednesday.
Authorities received "credible information" that the three siblings - Ryan Dougherty, Dylan Dougherty Stanley and Lee Dougherty - were seen near Colorado Springs, police there said.
The possible sighting was near Interstate 25 north of the city, and was reported at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Colorado Springs police said.
Sgt. Steven Noblitt said it hasn't been confirmed that the Doughertys are in the area, but the FBI said the people spotted were in a small white Subaru Impreza with the stolen Texas license plate LCS 909.
The suspects were last seen in a 2006 white Impreza.
"We don't have 100% identification, but it sure appears they were here, with the information we have at this time," Noblitt said.
The trio may have bought camping equipment at an outdoors store, he added. No other details have been released.
The three are believed to be armed and dangerous, according to authorities.
"If you see them, don't approach them," Police Cmdr. Brian Childress in Valdosta, Ga., said this week. "Just pick up the phone and dial 911."
The nationwide hunt for the Doughertys began last week when the two brothers and sister shot at a Florida police car during a highway chase, authorities said.
The three are suspected of following up the brazen shootout by robbing a bank in Georgia.
Each sibling has previous felonies. Ryan Dougherty is also a registered sex offender, police said.
"I don't think I'm ever going to see her again," Brendon Bookman, the fiancé of part-time stripper Lee Dougherty, told ABC News.
"I've always been able to get her out of tight spots in the past," he said. "There's no way I can help her now."
