DeKalb Police Arrest Possible Serial Rape Suspect Garry Mincey
Dekalb Police arrested a Decatur man that they believe could be connected to at least five sexual assaults.
Investigators say 35-year-old Garry Mincey followed a woman home from a grocery store on Flakes Mill Road and then raped and robbed her. They also suspect Mincey could be involved in four other assaults.
Mincey is believed to have entered the woman’s home through her garage while she unloaded groceries, according to Mekka Parrish of the DeKalb County Police Department.
After allegedly assaulting the woman, police said Mincey took her laptop and cell phone.
Police said they believe he may have been armed.
A woman at the home of Mincey -- located less than a half-mile from the grocery -- did not have any comments about the charge.
DeKalb County police believe Mincey could be involved with four other cases that were similiar to Tuesday's assault.
"Detectives believe that in those cases as well, the victim was followed home and assaulted," said Parrish.
Police arrested Mincey near the grocery store Wednesday afteoon after a short chase. Officials police there could be other victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
