Cobb Police Kill Suspected Gunman

Two Cobb County police officers are on paid administrative leave after being involved in a fatal shooting of a man who shot at them, police said.

The identity of the man and the officers have not been released but Cpl. Dana Pierce said the names likely will be released on Monday.

 

Police were dispatched to a home to retrieve a woman's belongings. The woman had waed them that a man in the home had a gun.

After police arrived, the man fled in a Pontiac Grand Am.

Later, two officers saw the car and attempted to pull it over. A man got out of the car and fired multiple shots at the officers, who retued fire from behind their patrol officers, police said.

The officers were placed on leave pending an inteal police investigation of the shooting, Pierce said.
