Cobb County Woman Jameela Barnette Killed After Attacking Deputy
MARIETTA, Ga. — Cobb County authorities are investigating a fatal shooting by an officer in Marietta.
Cobb County police say uniformed officers were dispatched to an apartment complex Sunday moing. They say when the officers knocked on a door, a woman opened it and began assaulting the officer with the weapons.
They say that despite receiving injuries to his arm, the officer was able to use his service weapon to stop the assault.
Police say 53-year-old Jameela Cecila Baette of Marietta was dead at the scene.
The officer involved in the shooting has been treated and released. He's been placed on administrative leave pending investigations.
