Atlanta Woman Leronza Love Charged In Fatal Shootout
ATLANTA - A woman has been charged with murder after a teen girl was killed during a wild shooting involving two gangs of women, Atlanta police said.
The shooting happened early in the moing in a parking lot of southwest Atlanta’s Brentwood Village Apartments on Dec. 22.
Detectives said two groups of women started arguing when at least one person pulled out a gun.
”They was going back and forth saying who was gonna hit who, resident Tyesha Laster told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.
Laster said that at about 2 a.m. the shouting stopped and gunfire erupted. She said her three young children were sleeping only a few feet away.
”It was like 20 gunshots," she said.
Laster then grabbed her children, put them on the floor and called 911.
When police arrived, the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, according to police. She later died from her injuries, police said.
Authorities said after the shooting, everyone scattered so they were still trying to determine the names and ages of the women involved.
”We’re interviewing witnesses, trying to determine what caused it to go from an altercation into gunfire," said Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs.
Less than a week later, police nabbed the woman they hold responsible for the teen’s death. On Tuesday, 22-year-old Leronza Love was charged with murder in the killing. She was being held at the Fulton County Jail.
