Atlanta mom Patricia Todd arrested in shooting of 4-year-old
Patricia Todd: Police: 4-year-old boy shot, mother arrested

Police are investigating a shooting that left a 4-year-old in critical condition Tuesday moing.

Police responded to an apartment complex on University Avenue around 10:15 a.m. Investigators say paramedics found the boy in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The child's mother, Patricia Todd, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and cruelty to children.

Neighbors told reporters they didn't hear a gunshot.

"It's shocking because stuff don't go on in this neighborhood like this," said Belinda Weems.

Weems says the boy and his mother moved into the small strip of apartments just three months ago.

"He was a sweet little boy, just as sweet as he could be," said neighbor Helen Gary.
