2 Former Sheriff's Deputies Tim Watford, Kirby Dollar Get Jail Time
A federal judge has sentenced two former Russell County sheriff's deputies to jail in the November 2010 beating of a handcuffed man.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports Tim Watford was sentenced to 34 months and Kirby Dollar got 46 months. Dollar was also ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to Patrick C. Harrington and serve two years of supervised release upon release.
The former deputies were convicted last year of deprivation of rights under color of law.
Supporters urged the judge to show leniency because of their military and law enforcement service. But prosecutors said the men brought shame on the badge and severely injured Harrington.
Authorities say Harrington was found by bail bondsmen. Harrington said Dollar and Watford arrived at the scene and beat him.
