11 dead, 23 injured in Georgia following severe weather

ATLANTA - State emergency management officials say 11 people are dead and 23 are injured after strong storms moved South through Georgia Saturday night, into Sunday morning.

Catherine Howden of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency said Sunday moing that seven of the deaths occurred in Cook County and the remaining four in Brooks and Berrien counties.

She said the deaths were related to severe weather but could not specify whether toadoes were the cause. Toado waings had been issued for parts of Georgia oveight.
 
Local officials are still assessing the area. No other information was immediately available.
 
Across southeast Georgia there's "high risk" of severe weather and toadoes on Sunday.
 
The National Weather Service is calling for heavy rains and potentially strong, severe storms in North Georgia this afteoon.
