Teen Kelly Canty Charged in Crash That Killed Toddler

Police say they’ve charged a teenager in connection to the fatal accident that killed a toddler on Tuesday in Atlanta.

Investigators say 18-year-old Kelly Canty faces several charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide, and reckless driving. She was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail on Wednesday.

According to police, Canty-- who tus 19 on Thursday-- was the driver of the white car that was involved in a fatal crash on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway on Wednesday afteoon. Atlanta Police say the driver of the white vehicle lost control and swerved into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

Police say the truck driver tried to avoid the car and swerved into a parking lot, crashing into a car with the toddler and a teen inside.

Both children were taken to the hospital, and the toddler later died.
