The Georgia State Patrol said two Jefferson High School students were killed in a two-vehicle accident in Jefferson.

According to the report, the accident happened Wednesday around 7 p.m. A 2006 Toyota Corolla failed to yield as it tued left onto Old Pendergrass Road and was struck by a 2006 Freightliner truck, according to GSP. Both vehicles left the road and struck a ditch.

A passenger in the Corolla, 15-year-old Alexander Trimble, was killed. The driver of the Corolla, 17-year-old William Trimble, was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The driver of the truck, 44-year-old Michael Vandiver, was injured and taken to Athens Regional Medical Center.

Grief counselors were on-hand Thursday at Jefferson High School. The drummers were known as a talented drum duo. William Trimble was the captain of the drumline; Alexander Trimble played the snare -- a big accomplishment for an underclassman.

A memorial is planned for Thursday night at Living Word Worship Center in Jefferson.

Both brother donated their organs.
