A teacher in Gwinnett County has resigned after being arrested for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.

Thomas Grimshaw, a math teacher at Mountain View High School was charged with sexual assault.

The police report released by the school district says Grimshaw is facing a charge of sexual assault in connection to the alleged inappropriate relationship. It also states that school resource police confiscated a CD or DVD containing video clips, text messages and a picture from Grimshaw.

The police report does not indicate what the content is of those video clips, text messages or picture.

In a statement, Jorge Quintana of the Gwinnett County Schools said, "The district did make a report to DFACS and to the Professional Standards Commission regarding these allegations."

A warrant was issued for Grimshaw's arrest on May 7.

The school district says it is releasing limited information because the investigation is ongoing. They say that Grimshaw has been with the district since 2006 and that he resigned on Monday before he was arrested.

Grimshaw is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
