The 19-year-old man accused of stabbing several people at a New Year's Eve party is expected to go before a judge on Wednesday.

Police say Luke O'Donovan stabbed a number of people at the party on Gibson Street in southeast Atlanta.

"Things were kind of starting winding down. I mean it was a late New Year's party. And then all of a sudden, some stuff happened in the street, I guess," said witness Lily Chambers.

According to police, O'Donovan got into an argument with Andrew Mainor. Witnesses say O'Donovan pulled a knife and stabbed Mainor.

"Someone got stabbed. It was just a blur," said witness Cheryl Watt.

Police say other party goers tried to subdue O'Donovan, and he allegedly responded by stabbing them.

"The moment the fight started, everyone was trying to separate them, because no one wants to see a fight.  It's a new year, it's a brand new day, no one wants to fight," said Watt.

Six people ended up hurt, including O'Donovan, who was cut on his lower back. He now faces five counts of aggravated assault.

A number of the victims were taken to Atlanta Medical Center. One was listed in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery.

"For the one in critical care right now, there's pretty good reason to have some conce," said Chambers.

Family members of the victim still in the hospital say he is doing better on Wednesday.

O'Donovan is being held without bond in the Fulton County Jail pending his court appearance. It is scheduled for 11 a.m.
