SMYRNA, Ga. - A 38-year-old man is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a woman on Interstate 285 in Cobb County.

Cobb County police say 23-year-old Yasmel Garcia-Victoria of Norcross was driving on the perimeter highway near Cobb Parkway early Sunday when her passenger, Michael Swetell, also of Norcross, pulled the emergency brake during an argument.

Police say the Honda Civic came to an abrupt halt and that both occupants got out and continued to argue. They say Garcia-Victoria was struck by multiple vehicles and died at the scene.

Officers say Swetell drove to an all-night restaurant to seek assistance, and police arrested him after questioning. They say that in addition to involuntary manslaughter he's charged with reckless conduct, concealing a death, tampering with evidence and driving under the influence.
