Six Men Indicted In Death OF Virginia-Highland Man
ATLANTA -- A Fulton County grand jury has indicted six men in connection with the death of a Virginia-Highland man and in connection with a month-long armed robbery spree last year, according to Fulton County District Attoey Paul Howard's office.
A news conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday to announce details of the indictments.
Charles Boyer was shot and killed when he and his girlfriend were held up in a robbery in late November, police said.
In December, police charged three young men in connection with the homicide. At the time, they would only name one of the suspects publicly: Tamario Wise, 18. They declined to name the other two because of a related ongoing investigation.
Police said Wise was the ringleader, a teen who led a dangerous crew of men who would rob, rape and steal to get what they wanted.
Police said they caught Wise on surveillance video with a stolen SUV. It was the same SUV in which police recovered Boyer's cell phone and identification card, police said.
CBS Atlanta News has leaed that Wise should have been in jail at the time of Boyer’s murder. He went to prison at age 15 for aggravated assault. He was released early in August, officials said.
Days before the alleged crime spree began, the parole board issued a warrant for Wise's arrest because he hadn't checked in, officials said. Wise took off his ankle monitor, police said.
”He’s not violent. He's no ringleader, no gang, no nothing. He's just a nice person, Wise's sister Chiquitia Wise said in December.
”We just want people to know he's innocent, and we are sorry to the Charles Boyer family about what happened and all the other victims that said he did something to them," she said. "We do apologize to those people and their families.
