The Gwinnett County fire marshal cited an apartment complex for a giant sinkhole fire crews say slowed down their response to a deadly fire.

Firefighters say they were delayed as much as a minute in responding to the Barrington Hills apartments Saturday night.

The manager of the complex says there was a way around the sinkhole without causing a delay.

But firefighters say they didn't know about the sinkhole until they got there.

A woman trapped in her home was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died of smoke inhalation.

The name of the victim has not been released.
