Shots Fired During Freeway Chase Of Robbery Suspects

Two suspects being pursued by College Park police opened fire on authorities before crashing in East Point.

Authorities said College Park police spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle involved in a robbery in Peachtree City.

Authorities said when College Park officers tued on their blue lights, the occupants took off onto Interstate 285, and opened fire on police during a chase on the expressway.

Investigators said the suspects then crashed into another vehicle on Delowe Drive at Highway 166 in the city of East Point's jurisdiction.

Authorities said that’s when the suspects opened fire again on the officers. Police said they retued fire, striking one suspect in the leg.

The suspect was taken to Grady Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. The other suspect was taken into custody.

East Point police said one person in the vehicle into which the occupants crashed was hurt. The injuries were nonlife-threatening.
