Search for missing Cass High School teacher Scott Salter
The Georgia State Patrol's helicopter used heat-seeking technology Monday afteoon to scan a wooded area in the hopes of finding 30-year-old Scott Salter.
He is a popular Cass High School teacher in the Cartersville area.
His father, Gil Salter, said his son has been hiking in the woods of Pine Mountain Park since he was a child.
Salter said when his son did not show up at work, he came to the park. He discovered his son's car in the parking lot at the trail head in the Cooper Fuace area. He said he called 911, which initiated the search.
Bartow County Sheriff's deputies, the Department of Natural Resources, family members and friends were searched near Cooper Fuace in the county.

Cartersville Police Lieutenant Michael Bettikofer said the terrain is very hilly and rocky. He said there is a possibility Salter may have fallen and injured himself.
He said it's believed Salter went into the woods sometime Sunday.
More than 24 hours later, his father was hopeful after news his son's cell phone had been deliberately tued off. He said police told him the cell phone was off at 12:25 p.m. on Monday.
Gil Salter remained optimistic about search plans on Tuesday.
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap told reporters a plane from the FBI with heat-seeking technology will scan the wooded area again for Scott Salter.
