Roswell woman Concepcion Romero accused of driving drunk with child in car

A Roswell woman is facing serious charges after police said she was driving drunk with her 7-year-old daughter in the car early Sunday moing.
 
Concepcion Romero, 40, faces DUI and child endangerment charges stemming from the arrest.  An arrest report said officers spotted Romero driving erratically westbound on Holcomb Bridge Road at Grimes Bridge Road about 1:45 a.m., failing to maintain her lane.
 
”He pulls over the vehicle, suspecting her of being DUI, said Officer Lisa Holland.  ”When he approaches the car, he sees a child in the back seat who is jumping around, not secured in the back seat.  There’s no safety restraint devices back there.
 
Holland said that Romero refused to submit to a breath or blood test, but was arrested for DUI because she failed a field sobriety test.
 
”It’s 2 in the moing.  She’s not only putting herself in danger, she’s putting people on the road in danger.  She’s also endangering her own child, said Holland.  ”We see a lot of these lately, over and over again.  If you’re going to drink and drive and have your kid in the car, that’s horrible.
 
Petchenik attempted to reach Romero at the address listed on the arrest report, but nobody answered the door.  Using a public records database, Petchenik reached Romero’s adult daughter by phone.  She told Petchenik her mother would have no comment about the arrest, but that she denied being drunk and said police had no proof she was drunk.
 
Police said the child was picked up at the scene by relatives before Romero was arrested.
