Remains of missing Cartersville woman Heather McDonald identified
HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. - Investigators said they have identified remains found in Haralson County as that of a Cartersville woman who has been missing over a month.
Heather McDonald, 27, was last seen on September 18. She was staying with a friend in Acworth at the time. Her Jeep was found abandoned earlier this month in the parking lot of the Courtesy Inn off Highway 411 in Cartersville.
Detectives with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said deputies with the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office found the remains on Wednesday and were able to identify them the next day. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offer a reward up to $20,000 for information about the death of McDonald.
