Pregnant Carrollton woman Nakita Holland shot and killed in her apartment

Carrollton police are looking for a person who shot and killed a pregnant woman.

The victim, Nakita Lashawn Holland, who family members say was due in two weeks, was found dead Monday in her apartment on Bennett Circle.  Investigators think she was shot through a rear window. They also believe the shooting might have taken place on Sunday, but won't know for sure until an autopsy is completed. 

Family members tried to check on the woman, who is about 36-years-old. When they couldn't get a hold of her, the family got the landlord to open the door.  After finding her dead, the family contacted police.

Holland lived in the apartment with her 2-year-old daughter.  Detectives think the child was there when her mother was killed, and likely was in the apartment alone ever since.  The little girl wasn't harmed and she's being cared for by family members.
