Pond search continues for missing Buckhead woman Stacey English

Atlanta police and state troopers took to the water Monday to search for a Buckhead woman. The search continued Tuesday moing.

Stacey English was last seen at her condo off Lenox Road around Christmas. English's Volvo was found running unattended on Dec. 27 near her home. Police, along with friends and family, have been searching for English ever since.

On Monday, police started searching a pond near English's home.

Atlanta police Lt. Paul Guerrucci told Channel 2's Ryan Young the divers had "their hands in the water, mostly searching the shallow parts."

Divers wore bright orange as they worked through the pond. Investigators said each diver was assigned a section of the murky pond, making a grid.

The Georgia State Patrol told Young they believe the search effort will take days to complete.

English's father, Anthony, was with search crews Monday. He told Young, "As a dad, it's a tremendous strain on me sir. I'm a praying father, and I put in God's hands."

Police sources told Young clues and leads have trickled down to almost nothing in English's whereabouts.

In a police report, a friend is quoted as saying that English was talking about the end of the world and that she felt someone was trying to hurt her just before she disappeared.

According to police, English was on medication for an illness and she attempted suicide in 2008.
