CONYERS, Ga. -- Police in Conyers said a 2-year-old boy was beaten to death after wetting his pants, and his mother's boyfriend has been charged with murder.

Conyers police spokeswoman Jennifer Edwards said Cayden Allen, died Monday at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Edwards said police were called to an apartment Friday night and found Cayden unconscious and struggling to breathe,

Edwards said Cayden's mother was at work and the child was in the care of his mother's boyfriend, 23-year-old James Rivera Sims.

Police said the boy had apparently wet his pants and Sims told police he grabbed the boy and took him to the bathroom.

Police said Sims told them the child collapsed when he grabbed his arm, but they say his account is inconsistent with the boy's injuries.
