Police: Juvenile Accused Of Shooting Man During Robbery at a Citgo Gas Station
ATLANTA -- Police say they have arrested a juvenile accused of shooting a man early Saturday moing during a violent robbery at a gas station.
Police said surveillance video caught the man firing at a customer at a Citgo gas station on the Boulevard and then running off.
Police told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik they believe the victim could shed some light on what led up to the shooting.
When the bullets stopped flying, police said a man was shot once in the stomach and was in critical condition.
"We're not sure what was going on. We're trying to figure that out once we talk to the victim," Investigator Darrin Smith said.
Musekwa Chilomo works as a clerk at the store. He believes the juvenile was trying to rob the victim, but when he ran, the shooter reacted violently. "It was very bad," Chilomo said.
He told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik he could identify who the shooter was.
Chilomo told Petchenik he doesn't fear for his own safety, relying instead on a higher power.
"My God is my protection. Before I come here, I kneel down. If my life is gone, it’s gone," Chilomo said.
Police cannot release the suspect's identity because he is a juvenile.
