DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Dekalb County police are looking for someone who shot and killed a father of two.

The shooting happened Monday night, a few hours before severe storms rolled into the area. Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Curtis Mack III.

"You don't expect those kind of things to happen, and you don't expect to bury your grandkids. It's pretty heavy," said Mack’s grandfather, Curtis Mack.

Mack told Channel 2's Erica Byfield he received a call about the shooting around 10:30 p.m. Family members said Mack III was shot multiple times while visiting friends on Selwyn Street in Decatur.

"They shot him once in the left side of the chest, stomach, hand, some other parts of the body," said the elder Mack.

According to Mack III's friends, a few hours before the shooting, a man in a car bumped into him, and the two exchanged words. Then, at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, Mack III saw the driver again, friends said.

"He came out. Someone was charging at him with a car. He said something to them and apparently the person jumped out with a pistol and shot him four times," said Mack Senior.

Mack III leaves behind a large family, including two children -- an 8-year-old and a newbo.

"He will not know his father at all, and that is extremely tragic," said the victim’s aunt, Sharyn.

Dekalb County police said they have identified a suspect.

"You cannot be so irresponsible with taking another person's life. It's just not fair to the person in the situation and those that are left behind. We've lost a loved one, someone we will miss forever," said Sharyn Mack.
