Police Charge Driver Jera Coen In Deadly Crash On Icy Road

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- Forsyth County deputies have charged a driver who lost control on an icy road and crashed into another car, killing a passenger.

Police said Jera Coen, 21, was driving too fast on an icy stretch of Buford Dam Road on Friday moing.

Coen lost control of her Pontiac Firebird on the Ga. 400 overpass and the car started to spin counter clockwise into oncoming traffic, authorities said.

Coen’s car was broadsided by a BMW driven by Stanley Stong, 48, who had just tued onto the road, according to police.

Authorities said the impact of the crash killed Matthew Inman, 38, a passenger in Coen’s car. Stong was not injured. Coen was taken to North Fulton Hospital with minor injuries police said.

Investigators told GA Daily News on Monday they are charging Coen with second degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions.
