Douglasville Police have made an arrest in the murder of an elderly woman.

Florene Duke, 75, was found dead in her unit at the Countryside Manor apartments on November 10. Police say she was found hog-tied inside her apartment and an autopsy later revealed she died of positional asphyxiation as a result of how she was tied up. Police confirm they have arrested Odes Dupree for the murder of Duke.

Florene Duke's grandson Chris Duke spoke to reporters about her. He says his grandmother was a kind woman who would open her door to anyone.

"She was a lovely woman," said Duke. "Would do anything for anybody."

Police say the victim was last seen walking her dog around the apartment complex. The elderly woman lived at the apartment complex for about five years.

"We're pouring all resources into finding someone to put in jail for this crime," said Douglasville Police Chief Chris Womack.

Investigators say some items were missing from the home, pointing to robbery as a possible motive.
