Dunwoody Police have charged two men in the murder of a father.

Police found Ja’Ron Acklin’s body Nov. 16 at his apartment on Barclay Drive after family members hadn’t seen him in several days. Police said someone shot the 24-year-old.

”We’ve been holding up the best that we could, his Aunt Denise Goggans told a local reporter. ”It’s been very hard.

Goggans said the family prayed hard for justice.

”They assured us they would capture these guys and I’m so grateful that they did, she said.

Police have charged Kashawn Mitchell, 22, and Julius Bynum-Ho, 21, both of Gwinnett County, with murder.

Dunwoody police told Petchenik they were thankful to have made the arrests and hinted at a possible motive.

”Maybe some type of monetary dispute or some type of financial gain, said Officer Trey Nelson.

Goggans said the pair attended Shiloh High School in Snellville with Acklin.

”We don’t really understand why they would take such horrible actions and do something to someone who was such a great guy, said Goggans.

Acklin’s brother told Petchenik the family is surprised that high school friends would be the prime suspects.

”My brother still won. While my brother is with our creator, the guys that did this, they’re behind bars, said Thomas Cody. ”It’s really crazy that people we grew up with and played basketball with that something would happen like this.

Acklin leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter.  Mitchell and Bynum-Ho remain in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
