Authorities say a woman was able to get her name onto a strangers credit card account and spent thousands on luxury items.
Jillian Miller was arrested in Alpharetta after a store manager flagged her as a possible fraudster, police said.
”This female somehow had herself placed onto a true victim’s American Express account, Alpharetta police Officer George Gordon said.
According to Gordon, Miller then used the account to buy two Rolex watches at a North Point Mall jewelry store.
"She put forth the story initially that she was the authorized account holder; that her boyfriend had sent her the American Express card by mail to buy him some watches because he was working for some type of oil drilling operation in another state, Gordon said.
Gordon said investigators believe Miller racked up charges at Sacks Fifth Avenue at Lenox Square in Buckhead the week before.
”Another $100,000 worth of shoes, purses, high-end luxury goods, Gordon said.
Miller’s attoey, Joe Habachy, told Channel reporters that she is the victim.
He said she met a man through a dating site, and he sent her the card.
Habachy said Miller’s name was on the card, but she had no idea it wasn’t legitimate. He expects a judge will dismiss the case.
Miller has bonded out of jail.
Atlanta police say they are still looking into the purchases made at Lenox Square.
